FAQ - City Race Gliwice

FAQ, which is (almost) all the answers to almost all questions about City Race 360 in Gliwice

- What is adventure racing in general - and in particular the City Race?

- Adventure racing is a competition in which double, triple or quadruple teams are to complete a course, marked on the map. They are running, walking, cycling, kayaking and skiing, completing checkpoints and performing special tasks. Means of transport are specified by organizer. Teams of two are competing in the City Race in Gliwice. Running/walking stage is held the first day of the competition, the second stage - on a bike with elements of hiking, canoeing and inline skating.

- Do you need to compete in the team?

- The competition involved teams only. And only those teams, which both members will collete the course and and reach the finish line, are classified.

- Who can take part in the competition?

- Everyone. Women, men, children, adults, younger, older. Person under 18 need a permition from its parents or a legal gardian only.

- 25 km on foot is quite a lot... Can I handle that?

- Yes, you can -  for sure! 25 kilometers is the distance that must be overcome, if you want to pick all the checkpoints. But you may skip some of them and save kilometers...

- Is it possible to finish the race for anyone?

- Yes. In order to be classified, you should start - and get to the finish line. How many checkpoints will you collect - it depends on you. But anyone who appears at the finish line on his own, thus may be called Race Finisher!

- Who wins the race?

- The classification determines the number of collected checkpoints and - secondly - time. The more CP's, the better. With the same number of CP's, a team with a better time is classifeid above.

- Do you have to have your own inlines? And do I have to know how to ride them?

- Inline skates can be rented from the organizer (in the application form you may find an appropriate tab - who wants to rent, fills it). There is no need to put those skates on, if someone rides poorly - or not at all. You may cover this stage on foot. It is important to have those skates with you, but it's up to you, whether they will be in your backpack, or on the legs :)

- What equipment do you need to have with you? What is up to the organizers?

- You may find the list of equipment required of competitors in the rules. The organizers will provide - among other things - kayaking & climbing equipment, if necessary. Skates are for hire. Everybody has to has its own bike.

- How much is the registration fee?

- Entry fee is PLN 75/100/150 from a two person team (depending on the date of application)

- Is it easy to get lost, if one has not started in competition with the map yet?

- Probably not - it's City Race. Errors in navigation may occur, but everyone will find it's way to the finish line :)

- Does everyone have to do all the special tasks?

- Special tasks are not mandatory; time penalty (15 to 60 minutes) is added for those teams, which will not complete them. For some tasks one person from one team is enough to complete them.
